Istanbul

So we arrived at Istanbul where we stay for a week with our whole squad. We had training and time together before we split into our smaller teams. It was an interesting time in Istanbul. It is said that Turkey has a 50% sleeping disorder which makes sense why the enemy uses the tactic of sleeping since Jesus talks to 1 out of 10 muslims in their dreams. Istanbul had parties and music all night long. The music would stop and the parties would end at 5am. The sleeping disorder affected some of the team members and me. I was still awake around 2am or 3am.

Now in Istanbul I had several interesting experiences. I would go around saying Isa (Jesus) to people. Also I would sometimes enter in conversation with several people and I always mentioned the gospel. But one experience was this lady who I had seen several times. I asked one of the girls from our squad to go with me and talk to her. So we went to look for her and we heard a women screaming and throwing her shoes: that was the lady. So my teammate Jillisa and I got closed to her and try to talk to her. Some men gave her tea. And the lady was screaming and sat down. I got her shoes and gave it to her and Jillisa and I were talking to her. Then she got up, and we asked her if we could pray for her. So when she got up, we lay hands on her and started praying for her. Then all of the sudden she fainted. The men called an ambulance, but Jillisa and I carried her to sit on some steps and the lady came back to her sense and was screaming. The paramedics came but they couldn’t help her. Jillisa and I kept talking and praying for her.

Finally the time came where we all split into our smaller teams and every team was sent to a different city or village. My team was sent to Canakkale.

Canakkale

My team Daddy Day Care (6 boys plus Kara) are helping a ministry. The minister is from Bulgaria and the Lord has called his family to serve and open churches in Turkey.

Now we serve the church with events.

Sunday is church day and after the service we spend time serving and talking with those that attented the service.

Wednesday evening is English club, were my team speaks in English with anybody from that shows up from the community.

Every other Friday is a youth event (where we eat, play games, sing, and teach a lesson of the bible).

Tuesday we go to Ayvacik a smaller village where a team of girls is serving. We go help in construction since they are building a new church.

On March 21 the church had its first service ever in Ayvacik and my team was able to be a part of it with the team of girls and the pastors and several other pastors.  It was a beautiful service where God’s presence was felt and we participate in the Lord’s table.

The rest of the days are Ask The Lord (ATL) where we evangelize and make connections with people in the community.

The Lord has blessed us with many connections and getting to know many people. We have several invitations to several homes. We been giving tea so many times. The people of Turkey are super friendly. Yes the call to prayer goes on everyday (5 times a day). There are so many mosques. But I seen God move in a powerful way.

Evangelizing muslim people is so different from evangelizing in America or other nations. We have pray for several people but first you have to be friendly and make the connection and maintain a relationship with the person your trying to minister.

One powerful experience was my teammate Banks and I praying for this young guy from Afghanistan. We met up with him and spoke to him. I download the bible in Farsi (the language he speaks) and showed him scripture. When Banks and I prayed for him, the Lord showed up in a powerful way. I lay my hands while praying for the young guy and he tremble. After the prayer he said he felt something so powerful that made him tremble. Then he said God told him that we had to teach him because he had to learn from us. Banks and I thank the Lord for what he was doing and we share the gospel and encourage that young man.

Please keep praying for us

God is teaching me how to talk to muslim people in this country that doesn’t have many churches or believers. They only see Jesus just as a prophet.

Surprisingly Turkey has been winning my heart.

Also in Canakkale is the Trojan horse.

God allowed us to go to Troas and see the place where the Apostle Paul had his vision of the Macedonian man who asked him for help (Acts 16) and where Eutychus fell to his death and Paul revived him (Acts 20). Also we saw the port where he got a boat for Philippi.

Istanbul

Así llegamos a Istanbul donde nos quedamos una semana con todo nuestro equipo. Tuvimos entrenamiento y tiempo juntos antes de dividirnos en nuestros equipos más pequeños. Fue un momento interesante en Istanbul. Se dice que Turquía tiene un trastorno de sueño de 50%, lo que tiene sentido por qué el enemigo esa táctica de dormir, ya que Jesús le habla a 1 de cada 10 musulmanes en sus sueños. Istanbul tiene fiestas y música durante toda la noche. La música y fiestas terminan hasta las 5am. El trastorno del sueño nos afectó a algunos de los miembros del equipo y a mí. Aveces estaba despierto alrededor de las 2am o las 3am.

Ahora en Istanbul tuve varias experiencias interesantes. Cuando me saludaban les decia Isa (Jesús) a la gente. También a veces entraba en conversación con varias personas y siempre mencionaba el evangelio. Pero una experiencia fue una señora que había visto varias veces. Le pedí a una de las muchachas de nuestro escuadrón que me acompañara y hablara con ella. Fuimos a buscarla y escuchamos a una mujer gritando y tirando sus zapatos: esa era la señora. Así que mi compañera de equipo Jillisa y yo nos acercamos a ella e intentamos hablar con ella. Algunos hombres le dieron té. Y la señora estaba gritando y se sentó. Tomé sus zapatos y se los di y Jillisa y yo estábamos hablando con ella. Luego se levantó y le preguntamos si podíamos orar por ella. Entonces, cuando se levantó, le pusimos las manos encima y comenzamos a orar por ella. De repente, se desmayó. Los hombres llamaron a una ambulancia, pero Jillisa y yo la cargamos para que se sentara en unas gradas y la señora volvió en sí y estaba gritando.  Llegaron los paramédicos pero no pudieron ayudarla. Jillisa y yo seguimos hablando y orando por ella.

Finalmente llegó el momento en que todos nos dividimos en nuestros equipos más pequeños y cada equipo fue enviado a una ciudad o pueblo diferente. Mi equipo fue enviado a Canakkale.

Çanakkale

Mi equipo Daddy Day Care (6 varones más Kara) estámos ayudando a un ministerio. El ministro es de Bulgaria y Dios ha llamado a su familia para servir y abrir iglesias en Turquía.

Ahora servimos a la iglesia con eventos.

El Domingo es día de iglesia y después del servicio pasamos tiempo sirviendo y hablando con los que asistieron al servicio.

El miércoles por la noche es el club de inglés, donde mi equipo habla en inglés con cualquiera que se presente de la comunidad.

Cada dos viernes hay un evento juvenil (donde comemos, jugamos, cantamos y enseñamos una lección de la Biblia).

El martes vamos a Ayvacik, un pueblo más pequeño donde está sirviendo un equipo de muchachas. Vamos a ayudar en la construcción ya que están construyendo una nueva iglesia.

El 21 de marzo, la iglesia tuvo su primer servicio en Ayvacik y mi equipo pudo ser parte del servicio con el equipo de muchachas y los pastores y varios otros pastores. Fue un hermoso servicio donde se sintió la presencia de Dios y participamos de la mesa del Señor.

El resto de los días son Ask The Lord (ATL) donde evangelizamos y hacemos conexiones con personas de la comunidad.

Dios nos ha bendecido con muchas conexiones y conociendo a muchas personas. Tenemos varias invitaciones a varias casas. Nos an dado té tantas veces. La gente de Turquía es muy amable. Sí, el llamado a la oración es todos los días (5 veces al día). Hay tantas mezquitas. Pero eh visto a Dios moverse de una manera poderosa.

Evangelizar a los musulmanes es muy diferente de evangelizar en Estados Unidos o otras naciones. Hemos orado por varias personas pero primero tienes que ser amigable y hacer la conexión y mantener una relación con la persona que estás tratando de ministrar.

Una experiencia poderosa: mi compañero de equipo Banks y yo oramos por un joven de Afganistán. Nos reunimos con él y hablamos con él. Le mostraba las escrituras en farsi (el idioma que habla). Cuando Banks y yo oramos por él, Dios apareció de una manera poderosa. Tenia mis manos sobre el y mientras oraba por el joven, temblo. Después de la oración dijo que sintió algo tan poderoso que lo hizo temblar. Luego dijo que Dios le dijo que teníamos que enseñarle porque tenía que aprender de nosotros. Banks y yo estamos agradecidos con Dios por lo que estaba haciendo y compartimos el evangelio y animamos a ese joven.

Dios me está enseñando cómo hablarle a la gente musulmana en este país que no tiene muchas iglesias ni creyentes. Ellos miran a Jesús como un profeta.

Sorprendente Turquía a estado ganando mi corazon.

Tambien en Canakkale esta el caballo de Troya.

Dios nos permitio ir a Troas y conocer el lugar donde el Apostol de Pablo tuvo su visión del hombre de Macedonia que le pedia ayuda (Hechos 16) y donde Eutico cayo para su muerte y Pablo lo revivio (Hechos 20). Tambien el porto donde salio para Filipos.
